The Hatishila temple also known as the Hatishila Ganesh Mandir, is situated in Guwahati, Assam . It is dedicated to Lord Ganesha , the elephant headed deity in Hindu mythology. The temple gets its name from the combination of two words, Hati means elephant and shila means stone. The temple is built around a massive rock formation that resembles an elephant’s snout. The are around the temple is beautiful and peaceful, making it an ideal spot for picnic. Visitors can explore what appears to be a cave within the temple premises. Activities like boat riding, camping, bonfire , watching sunset and cycling can be enjoyed by the visitors. The temple sits on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra.
