All you need is a stencil and some paint!
1. Pick a base color and paint your canvas
2. Lightly tape your stencil to dry canvas
3. Use a contrasting paint color and paint over the stencil
4. Repeat number three as desired
5. Begin to add color to your canvas
6. Take breaks if you start to feel unsure about the look of your painting
7. Refuse to judge yourself during the process
8. Give yourself permission to change the color scheme at any point
9. Only add color to the stenciled part at the end. This save you from having to do the stencil part over again.

I started this painting with reds and pinks. Then I changed my mind after painting most of the canvas. I love how it turned out. It’s been hanging in my office for a few years and I think I’m finally ready to let her go and put her up for sale.

Practicing art is relaxing and challenging. You will learn how to be more patient with yourself. You will also learn more about self acceptance and acceptance of others. You will have an outlet for stress relief. You will bring joy to others who love what you do! So go get yourself some acrylic paint, a canvas and some brushes and experiment. You got this!

Peace and Love,

Lisa
