They are shinobi. Shinobi are beasts. Eventually, the two beasts are toyed with by laws and destiny.
The story is set during the Sengoku period, an era far removed from the word "peace". In order to survive in this turbulent time, the shinobi, who revere the Sengoku warlords as their lords and pledge loyalty, live. Kagerou (Kenji Matsuda), sharp-minded and skilled, is also one of the lower-ranked shinobi. Though he struggles with group activities, he is a remarkable shinobi whom the main family respects. After successfully completing a challenging mission with his only trusted childhood friend, Aoi (Maju Ozawa), and due to his lone wolf nature, which refuses to interact with others, he becomes the target of resentment from other shinobi and is marked for death.
Aoi, too, becomes a target for other shinobi and is captured. From the moment he saves her, the two embark on a fugitive journey. Among the strict rules of the shinobi, the harshest punishment is leaving the ranks of the shinobi. Pursuers come after the two, accused of breaking this rule. Traps are set one after another. Pursuers continue to come relentlessly, no matter how much they break free. Will the two be able to survive on their own?
