Hawaii is very unique in many categories, and when it comes to casting huge conventional reels, it is a huge part of the fishing culture here in the islands. Many people believe this may have been the birthplace of this type of shore- casting, especially with the size reels that are used here. We are using Penn's famous 4/0 Senator conventional reel to practice the casting that is traditionally done when fishing for Ulua; the prized game fish in Hawaii. I have caught an Ulua doing the droning method, but I find it important to still learn how to cast this type of set up. You'll see us practice two types of casting: The "pendulum method" and the "lie down" method. Hope you enjoy the video, and if you learn something, let us know!
