You asked, we delivered! We specifically made a road trip just for you to find out just how much does it cost to live and retire in Ipoh!

Ipoh is lesser known than the other cities like Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia. However, can it hold its own weight against the bigger cities? We went down on the ground to find out the various costs for you, whether it is food, transport, accommodation or healthcare. And at the end of the video, we compiled all the costs into a realistic budget for you to appreciate the numbers!

We interviewed friends and family in Ipoh and got a real insight to what living in Ipoh is like. And we made wonderful discoveries about Ipoh which we are excited to share with you, even though we are pretty sure the locals do not want you to know!

Hi Everyone, we are Fran and John, the Corporate Breakout Couple. We retired in 2020 at the age of 40 in Singapore, and moved to Penang in 2022. Ipoh is one of the many destinations we have gone on the ground to find out about the real living costs.

Today’s video is a continuation of our travels around Malaysia, to share with you a realistic representation of how one‘s cost will look like in Ipoh.

All prices provided in this video is in Malaysian Ringgit.

We hope you enjoy watching this video, do let us know in the comment section if you like it! We welcome any queries you may have on Malaysia as well. Do share this video with your friends and family!

With lots of love - Fran and John
