Our first dive site for The Shore Dive Collection on Grand Cayman was an easy choice. We have had so many good memories of Sunset House over the years. Our first visit was in 2007 and we’ve been back six times since then. Leslie introduced me to flamingo tongues and we saw so many on this trip as well. There were also quite a few conchs.

Sunset House saw six first time captures for us including indigo hamlets, mermaid’s wine glasses, red snapping shrimp, brassy chub, common comet sea stars and a bridled burrfish. There were a few other less common sea creatures as well, like a cero, Nassau groupers, ocean triggerfish, masked hamlets and a banded jawfish.

The site is easy to dive and supported by a full service dive resort including equipment rental, rinse tanks, showers, bathrooms, restaurant and beach bar. Check out all there is to offer in the video.

FIRST TIME CAPTURE IDENTIFICATION

We primarily use two sources to validate our first time captures. The first is Florent's Guide To The Tropical Reefs which can be found at https://reefguide.org. Its free and has lots of pictures, but is not comprehensive. The second is “The Reef Set: Reef Fish, Reef Creature and Reef Coral (3 Volumes)”. The box set can be found on Amazon; however with all our travels, we also purchased the eBooks (http://fishid.com/store/product-categ...) so we don’t have to carry an extra five pounds of paper in our luggage. :-) We may also reference other sources from time to time as well.

Here are some links to this video’s first time captures.
