To grow as an artist, challenge yourself with new tools, mediums, subjects, and styles! Here I’ve discovered a quick way to build up the form with an addition of a new medium (foam) as well as new subject (fire). My style might also change with the sculpture as I directly carve the wood.
Here I’m using the Holey Galahad! That’s the name of these amazingly useful “see through” tungsten carbide carving discs. King Arthur’s Tools has taken “seeing your form” to the next level with 6 holes placed in each grinding wheel to quickly remove, refine, and sand wood. In fact, you save time without stopping to lift the grinder to see your work. You view it right while you’re working! This is one of the easiest ways to power carve. They’re available in four grits, from extremely coarse to fine. While I prefer the round profile for convex/concave surfaces, it also comes in flat profiles. Every Holey Galahad is made of high quality structured tungsten carbide teeth, that should last you a lifetime. Save 10% at www.KATTools.com @k
