The first time I ever rode in the Tahoe region it was at Hole in the Ground and it really opened my mind to what riding in the Sierras was like. It scared me just as much as it made me excited. The tech was awesome but on the other hand the climbs were a lot of work. From there I was on a mission to ride as many new high elevation rides as I could and somehow over 10 years passed without me returning to Hole in the Ground. Finally the time came to ride it again and I had totally forgotten how much tech was on the ride. However, I definitely didn't forget the climbs.
