The 2024 Paris Olympics saw a record 195 out LGBTQ+ athletes competing, up from 186 in Tokyo 2020. These athletes excelled, with 33% winning medals, nearly double the percentage from Tokyo. If competing as "Team LGBTQ," they would have ranked 7th overall with 42 medals (15 gold, 13 silver, 14 bronze), tying the Netherlands in gold medals and outperforming all countries that criminalize LGBTQ individuals. The USA and Brazil stood out among 16 countries represented by LGBTQ medalists.
