Here's a NYE tradition of mine that goes back over 15 years. Starting on December 31st, 1998, and into the new millennium, I started recording the various "Countdowns" to the New Year, every year, at midnight. Collected here are videos from that series, going all the way back to 1999, up until 2012. Now, the participants and networks have changed over the years, from ABC (KTNV Channel 13), to NBC (KVBC, now KSNV, Channel 3), before settling in at the CBS (local affiliate KLAS Channel 8). Besides spending New Year's Eve with local broadcasters like Dave Courvoisier, Paula Francis, Gary Waddell, as well as National figures like the great Dick Clark, it's equally fun to compare and contrast the Vegas SKyline over the last Decade plus. What towers and resorts have withstood the "test of time." Either way, every year promised (and usually) delivered a spectacular fireworks show, demonstrating the magic and scope of the "Las Vegas Strip." This collection features the KVBC, channel 3, team celebrating "America's Party" on the Las Vegas Strip, and Downtown on Fremont Street. It became a pattern that the local affiliates would "patch in" a radio broadcast (98.5 FM KLUC, for example) while displaying some impressive photography from various sights above the Strip. Notice the nifty Centennial "2005" logo that accompanied that NYE. 2005 marked the 100 year Anniversary of Las Vegas (well, the land auction that we credit as the "founding"). This clip takes you all the way into the 2007 Countdown.
