The National Electric Code (NEC) NFPA 70 contains standoff distances for transformers from structures. An engineering analysis utilizing Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) models the expected heat flux on the face of the structure. With this information we can determine an appropriate alternative to the prescriptive code requirement.
