The Wild Wood is a 45 min collage of 5 parts: Prelude-scripted dialogue, Conversation- instrument dialogue, A Ditty, The Maze-structured improvisation, and Gathering. It is performed in the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria where 2 soprano singers, 2 percussionists, and a trio of clarinet, cello and harp each occupy one of the 3 large conjoined rooms. It is dedicated to Jim Black, Lynne Penhale's grandfather who made his living as a clockmaker since the age of 14. The text is from "Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame and "Travels with Charley" by John Steinbeck. Influences include: John Cage, Charles Ives, Harry Partch, Bartok, Martin Heidegger "What is Metaphysics?" and "Introduction to Being and Time", Italo Calvino "Six Memos for the Next Millennium". Video-editing by Karolinka Zuzalek. Video by John Celona and Gordon McQuiggan.
