We had a 2000 V70xc with a driver door that would not open. The latch failed hard! We removed the door panel and tried manipulating the various latch mechanisms to no avail, so we beat the latch mechanism with an air chisel. That failed to open it also. Next we drilled a small 1/4” hole in the remaining housing and manipulated the internal mechanism through that hole with a small screwdriver and viola! It opened!
