The first part is from “Ryan Cayabyab The Musicman at 50” (2004) with Krina Cayabyab (soloist), Toma Cayabyab (piano) and the San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Arnel Feliciano.

The second part is an excerpt from ‘The Music of Ryan Cayabyab” (2014) with Aui Tamayo (soloist), Jesper Mercado (piano) and the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gerard Salonga,

I remember being mesmerized by this theme music which heightened the film’s emotions and added an extra dimension to the visuals by appealing to the auditory senses, as well.
I am unsure if a soundtrack of the film was ever recorded so when we did both tribute shows, we insisted that this haunting song be part of the repertoire.

Ryan Cayabyab was bestowed with the National Artist Award 3 years ago so I am sharing this video as a continuing and never ending homage to Mr. C and his countless contributions to Filipino music, art and cultural identity.
