When her teenage daughter was lost in Long Beach, California, Marilee Maduro hopped in a car and drove. When her son's airplane was going down in an undisclosed location, she prayed. Now a chaplain for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), Maduro supports the officers and staff on duty, and she was at headquarters the night of Oct. 1, 2017 – the worst mass shooting in modern history.
