President William Ruto has promoted Lieutenant General Charles Muriu Kahariri to the rank of General, and appointed him the Chief of Defence Forces. General Kahariri was the vice chief of the defence forces under General Francis Ogolla, who died on the 18th of April in a helicopter crash.
