The effects of Tropical Storm Alberto, the first of the Atlantic hurricane season, are already being felt in Mexico and Texas as it churns west across the Gulf of Mexico. In the Texas city of Surfside, located south of Houston, rainfall totals have already topped four inches. The system's center is expected to make landfall on Mexico's Gulf coast by early Thursday.
