Ian, very kindly allowed us into his kitchen to tell us about his heritage pie making hobby. Ian owns an ESSE 990 electric range cooker with a Plus 1 50cm wood fired cooker companion. We are positive you will all be hungry once you see the care that goes into every pie. Here are some words Ian shared with us about his experiences using an ESSE.

"I do love my new cooker, can’t get over how easy it is to keep the wood side lit 24/7.
Started using the electric unit straight away, after some fiddling about, as I am not great at reading manuals, so trial and error was the plan.
Used the Standby option from day one so again getting up to heat was no problem. Meat went great no spinning about during cooking as before.
But my best result was cooking 30 pork pies in one oven all the same, and only one stuck in the tin, average before was 10% stickers, constant moving up and down, with max quants 20 pies.
But the best revelation came with my new wood burning oven, lit it Friday, and hasn’t been out yet. Two logs before bed, turn off the air. In the morning quick shuffle two more for the day, shut off again for day at work, home for tea, two more logs, half hour later, tea being sorted.6 logs per day, Mrs N very impressed.
