3 Day canoe/hammock camping trip down the Musquodoboit River from Elder Bank to Bridge Pool near Musquodoboit Harbour. Total distance was around 26km, of which we cover most on day 2, leaving day 1 and 3 open to allow us to relax a bit.

We loaded the boats up with a ton of gear since there are no portages or rapids to speak of. This is the first trip with my brand new Nova Craft Prospector 16 in Aramid Lite... yellow! (As my wife Claire approved of a new canoe if I got a nice colour of yellow). Very happy with it and no damage to speak of other than a few clear coat scratches from shallow water.

This video covers Day 1 and half of Day 2. Our Camp site on this video was picked because it was beside one of the few places in the river that has enough current to "babble". There is no floating this trip.. paddle or stay still.

Although we never get very far away from a road on this trip, you are hardly ever reminded of civilization. I couldn't believe how much wildlife we encountered in 3 days. I didn't get everything on film, but we saw deer, Bald Eagles, owls, every song bird in NS (basically), otters, horses, fish and may be heard a bear fishing the river (at 1:30am, 20m from the hammocks).

I will be editing Part 2, which finishes the series and hope to post it next Thursday, July 9th 2020.

Chilli recipe:

1.5 lb lean ground beef (brown with onion and garlic first)
3 medium size British Banger sausage
1 red pepper
1 green pepper
1 large Spanish onion
1 tsp mince garlic
1/2 pack chilli powder
1 can dice tomoatos
1 can red kidney beans

CORNBREAD

1 cup corn meal
1cup flour
1tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp baking Soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 c sugar
1 cup milk and 3 tbsp melted butter and I egg beaten (I forgot the eggs and butter, but we didn't notice it).

I've recorded the music myself, any other music if included is unintentionally used as it was playing on a bluetooth speaker in the background while filming.
