This piece is Part I of a three-part sonata that I will be submitting for the Bach-In-Time challenge for Round 3.

The challenge for this round is to create a three-part suite for a solo instrument (such as string, woodwind, or brass) and an accompanying piano. The piece must represent the Romantic-era style of music, which lasted from around the 1820's well into the late 19th century and early 20th century.

This piece takes its influences from several well-known Romantic-era composers such as Chopin, Liszt, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninoff.

Part I starts with a cello solo leading into a dramatic Bb minor motif. It then settles into a Gb major melody which resembles Saint-Saens and hymnal influences of the 1800s.

The Bb minor motif resurfaces, and then the movement ends with a Bb major reprise of multiple motifs.

Please enjoy this piece and make sure to listen to the whole thing!

Parts II and III will be released over the next month.

Stay tuned !!!
