*Nephrotic Syndrome:

Nephrotic syndrome in children is a kidney condition where too much protein leaks into the urine, leading to low protein levels in the blood, high cholesterol, and swelling (edema). Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for children’s kidney health.

It mainly has 3 types that occur in children:
1. Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome
2. Infantile Nephrotic Syndrome
3. Childhood Nephrotic Syndrome

*Possible Reasons for Nephrotic Syndrome:

1. Primary nephrotic syndrome: kidneys of the child are affected.
2. Secondary nephrotic syndrome: happens due to the side effects of medicines.
3. Leukaemia / Blood Cancer or Hepatitis B.

*Symptoms:

1. Excess bubbles/foam in the urine of the child.
2. High cholesterol levels in the child.
3. Profuse swelling in the body.
4. Lowered protein levels in the child.

*Suggested Treatment

Lowering the intake of salt in diet, inclusion of diuretics and food with diuretics properties like coriander in the diet and giving a light protein diet to the child helps in treating nephrotic syndrome.
