After our debacle in Montana, we regroup in Kansas City, enjoying this underappreciated city while waiting for our bikes to arrive and to be reassembled. Then we finally take off again on the Rock Island Trail, the new Katy Trail extension that connects Kansas City to the Katy and St. Louis with a continuous cycle trail. We immediately feel better about our decision to leave Montana, and enjoy the traffic-free rail trail riding and smoke-free days.
