2022年，中国有956万人出生，1041万人死亡。这是自上世纪60年代“大跃进”运动造成的大饥荒以来，中国死亡人数首次超过出生人数。而在此之前，中国出生人口已经连续六年断崖式下跌了。根据最新统计，中国2023年出生人口已经跌破800万。从这一趋势来看，中国出生人口还将在未来继续断崖式下跌。从今以后，中国将不再拥有年轻有活力且不断增长的人口，从此成为一个老龄化和人口萎缩的国家，而且还有可能会给全世界带来灾难性的后果。
