THE UPGRADING WORKS OF THE PERTAMINA MANDALIKA INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT BY DROMO 🏍 🇮🇩 for MotoGP

The engagement of Dromo started in mid-July 2022. A team was deployed in late July 2022 to the circuit, and the investigations of previous failures and works for the upgrades commenced

The track design has been overhauled, without changing the layout, to improve flatness and water drainage to avoid standing water. The full track required repaving and runoffs on certain corners increasing. The general contractor PT PP (Persero) Tbk, was engaged by the promoters Mandalika Grand Prix Association to undertake the works.

The original works were scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2022, though due to technical issues in the production of aggregates locally, the paving works commenced in late October 2022. This was at the start of the Lombok rainy season. The asphalt mix design was developed in Dromo laboratories in Europe and then refined on-site.

An asphalt production plant capable of producing more than 240 ton/hr was used to produce the unique racing asphalt mix named "Rinjani" after the volcano on Lombok where aggregates were sourced to increase the sustainability of the works. Several production trials of the asphalt mix or Job Mix Formula as it's known in the industry were undertaken, before paving trials were done to confirm the asphalt formulation.

Dromo engaged with its partners, in supporting PT PP (Persero) Tbk with the requirements for the equipment, raw materials, and production processes. This enables Dromo to support its clients in the execution of its track designs and ensure the client's requirements are met.
