The Gods of Pegāna is a book by the Anglo-Irish fantasy writer Lord Dunsany,it was published in 1905. The book is organized as a series of sketches about an imaginary pantheon; the concept was a key influence on H P Lovecraft, who said he "got the idea of the artificial pantheon and myth-background represented by Cthulhu, Yog-Sothoth, Yuggoth, and more" from Dunsany.
