DC Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohi-U-Din held a press conference regarding the upcoming book fair and literary festival to begin from August 17th to August 25th. This eight-day-long book fair and literary festival are the collaborative efforts of the National Book Trust, the India Minister of Education, and the district administration of Srinagar. 

This first national book festival will also see participation from the National Council for the promotion of Urdu. 

The Chinar Book Festival aims to foster a love for reading among the young generation. Chief Convener Amit Wanchoo was present at the occasion as well.
