My YouTube Channel is all about projects that begin in my garage. Truth be told, my garage is a mess because of all of my interests and projects. This video is the first on a playlist called Scott's Garage Makeover where I put my DIY skills to practical use in coming up with more storage space in this relatively small garage. The shelves hang from the rafters in the attic using 1/2" threaded rods that are 8' in length. These shelves are also designed to leave a 4' x 8' space behind them to allow the storage of larger items like plywood. They hang next to but do now interfere with the garage door or it's rails.

1/14/22 It has been about a year since I posted this video. Just so you know, the garage door repairmen who have seen this video and commented don't like this sort of thing. For me the function of these shelves has been great. If you have to get your spring replaced, however, from a garage door repairmen, they may charge you more because of the shelves being in their way. If I have to get my garage spring replaced I will simply take down the shelves which is no big deal. The other thing I was thinking of doing was drilling new holes and moving it a foot further away from the garage door.
