‘FoodPrompt: A Platform for Personal Nutritional Assessment and Food Production’ by CMU Engineering Named Runner-up at Agri Plus Award 2024,
Earning a trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn

On May 24, 2024, in the Purachatra Jayakara Room on the 4th Floor of the office of the Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Team FoodPrompt – led by Mr. Supakorn Praphalert, a Master’s student in Industrial Engineering at the CMU Faculty of Engineering, along with his supervisor, Associate Professor Dr. Wassanai Wattanutchariya, and the production of technology and advanced management research team consisting of Assistant Professor Dr. Karn Patanukhom and Mr. Phongprapan Kantakaew – presented their eponymous project on a platform for personal nutritional assessment and food production at the Agri Plus Award 2024 and won the runner-up prize, earning a trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The FoodPrompt platform offering personal nutritional assessment and food production was developed to address the needs of individuals with malnutrition with a focus on vulnerable groups such as elderly people in hospitals and care homes. This innovation features a nutritional assessment system that gives tailor-made results based on each user’s well-being. Connected to IoT, this AI-integrated platform can identify the type and quantity of food in each meal and then compare it against the essential nutrients from the user’s well-being database. The data is then transmitted to the food production system (3D food printer), which will prepare high-nutrient food, suitable to the target group’s condition.

The Agri Plus Award aims to promote applications of technology and innovation to raise competitive capacity by translating research into commercial success, adding value to Thai agricultural products and thus improving Thai farmers’ quality of life. The event was attended by Mr. Suchart Chomklin, the Deputy Minister of Commerce, Mr. Wutthikrai Leeweeraphan, the Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property, and Mr. Ronnarong Phoolpipat, the Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade, along with the Ministry of Commerce executives.
