Splenic Infarct || Ultrasound || Case 343

Clinical Features:
A 48-year-old female patient with chronic kidney disease came for a routine check-up.
Ultrasound Features:
A focal irregular hypoechoic area is noted at the mid spleen along the lateral margin with internal thin, parallel echogenic lines forming the 'bright band sign'.
Color Doppler shows no internal vascularity.
Remember:
About 40% of patients with splenic infarction are asymptomatic.
Patients may present with left upper quadrant pain or referred pain to the left shoulder.
