This in-depth interview with Charlie Watts took place on July 14, 1994, in the cafeteria of the Crescent School in Toronto, where the Rolling Stones were rehearsing for their "Voodoo Lounge" tour. Charlie began by speaking about his favorite jazz ensembles and jazz drummers, and then we moved on to discussing his work with the Rolling Stones, his thoughts about John Bonham and Ginger Baker, and other subjects. A transcription of this conversation is available in my "Talking Guitar" Substack magazine: https://jasobrecht.substack.com/p/cha...

This Charlie Watts interview, along with the interviews I did during the same week with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Darryl Jones, and Chuck Leavell, originally appeared in "The Rolling Stones: Inside the Voodoo Lounge," a one-shot magazine sold at venues and newsstands during the Rolling Stones’ 1994-1995 World Tour. The Ronnie Wood interview can be heard here:    • Ronnie Wood on the Rolling Stones, Fa...  . Look for the others to be posted in the coming weeks.

I hope you enjoy this conversation!
