Football is already a popular sport as is so the stars of the game always tend to be superstars even off the pitch. This isn't always the case though as there have been a few special cases where a player became even more famous after they retired. These are six such players.

First on the list comes as a pair as you can't mention one without the other. Of course we're talking about Micah Richards and Jaimie Carragher. Jamie is undoubtedly a Liverpool legend, lifting the Champions League and FA Cup but he wasn't widely known by people outside of Europe. This rings true for Richards as well who was an average Man City defender.
Since hanging up their boots though, their careers have taken off, as mainstays in what many consider the best football show around. Their CBS Sports coverage of the Champions League alongside Kate Abdo and Thierry Henry has gained legendary status and these two guys in particular have become the most sought after pundits in the modern game.
