On Melbourne Cup Day 1st November 2022 Southern Shorthaul Railroad transferred withdrawn Comeng sets 330M-1025T-350M & 459M-1080T-460M from Tottenham yard to Bendigo Workshops for scrapping with locomotives P14 (recently repainted) & T363. In this video we chase these Comeng sets on their final journey north, seeing it at Diggers Rest, Gisborne & Castlemaine, before seeing the train being shunted into the workshops in Bendigo.

Entering service between 1981 - 1989, a number of the venerable Comeng EMU's are being withdrawn from service as new High Capacity Metro Trains enter service. A number have already been scrapped, including several that have been transferred up to Bendigo. These particular Comeng sets are Alstom-refurbished sets that only underwent the stage 1 life extension works, and were withdrawn from service in May 2022.

Audio warning: some of the audio with the locomotives passing through may sound a bit loud and distorted. I actually set my microphone to a lower level than previous videos which seemed to work well enough for spark filming & my recent chase with the Warrnambool Westcoaster, but it appears that it was still no match for the thunderous P & T Class locomotives.
