The Bugis Tribe is from Sulawesi, third largest island in Indonesia. They are the original Boogey men, famous for the boats they build and sail. In the 15th century the Europeans tried to intervene in the lucrative spice trade and soon discovered the Bugis to be fierce warriors. The Bugis have since maintained their authority throughout the Indian Ocean and beyond as sailors, traders, fishermen, and pirates. In this episode I spend time with them to experience their culture and traditions.
