Welcome back to the woodshop! Today we are continuing the progress in our soon-to-be retail space! There are a few exposed dimensional beams in this space that support the third story of our building. Because these beams are pretty ugly, I wanted to change the look of the space by wrapping them in white oak, making them larger and much classier. This also gave the beams a much more substantial appearance as well as brought us closer to the vision of the end result! Wrapping existing beams or creating faux beams for a space is an easy way to really change the look and style of any room! With a wide variety of lumber available you can also accomplish this project pretty inexpensively and on your own with simple tools. We chose to use white oak since we will have other finishing elements in the same material, however making a DIY faux beam in something at your local hardware store like pine, and staining it whatever color you desire is an awesome and cheap way to obtain a similar result! If this was helpful and inspiring in any way, please hit that Like and Subscribe button! We will continue to document the process of getting this whole retail store space transformed!
