柳生一族の陰謀 [The Yagyu Conspiracy] is a jidaigeki [period drama] which aired in Japan in 1978-79 The plot is a retelling of The Shogun's Samurai in longer form, and many of the actors from the original film reprised their roles, most notably, Shinichi [Sonny] Chiba as Yagyu Jubei.

This show was a bit difficult for me to get ahold of, so I was very grateful to be able to find the second DVD volume on a Japanese auction site. It was definitely worth waiting for. The story is darker/more serious (I think) than Yagyu Abare tabi, but equally enjoyable. I am sure that there are many nuances in the show that I have not understood, as I am still a beginner, but the acting is very good, and so I enjoy watching very much even if I don't understand all the details.

Gratitude to all who made this show possible, and as always thank you to Hiroyuki Sanada, whose work inspires many people all around the world.

Thank you very much for watching [and perhaps reading these long rambles]. :)
