Munstead Wood was the home of Gertrude Jekyll from 1896 to 1932. The property consists of 15 acres. The Arts and Crafts style home was designed by the famous architect Edwin Lutyens.

Lutyens and Jekyll formed a wildly successful working relationship with Gertrude Jekyll designing the gardens for Lutyens' homes. Pretty incredible considered most women didn't work outside of the home during that time in history.

Jekyll's influence on gardening can't be understated. I hope you enjoy the tour. The coolest thing about visiting was being able to read the words from Jekyll's books and walking through the scene in real life. Amazing.

The readings in the video are from two of Jekyll's books:
The Gardener's Essential
Gardens for Small Country Houses

Thanks for watching.
