WHO IS AMIRAL OSMAN PASHA?
Admiral Osman Pasha, who was born in 1792 and was raised as a galleon soldier, served as the chief of galleys in the Egyptian Navy between 1825 and 1830. Then he returned to Istanbul and entered the service of the Ottoman Navy. He served as the commander of the Ottoman Fleet in the Sinop Raid during the Crimean War. During the Sinop Raid, which lasted about 3 hours, Admiral Osman Pasha was captured with a wound on his foot; Half of the city of Sinop, which was caught by cannon fire, was burned. He was released upon the signing of the Treaty of Paris, which ended the Crimean War. When he returned to the country, he was subjected to compulsory residence in Rize. He died in Rize in 1860.
