Bats are known for hanging upside down and generally being spooky – but did you know that they’re scarily good at avoiding cancer?

It could be related to the fact that bats are the only mammals that can fly. But flying is the hardest way to get around, and when bats take to the skies, the stress that it puts on their bodies damages their DNA. Damaged DNA usually drives cancer, but it seems that bats have evolved special mechanisms to allow them to deal with it.
