Here are some of my tips, from me to you:
- buy metro tickets on your phone
- buses offer a scenic view of Paris
- hold doors open for others, applying a three-second rule
- in cafés, order quickly -- the waitstaff are busy
- always have €10 on you, in case of minimum card payment limit
- public toilets can be unpleasant -- buy a small espresso in a café to use their facilities
- opt for the plat du jour at restaurants for good value
- avoid eating or drinking while walking, as it can be considered disrespectful
- for popular or high-end restaurants, reserve at least two weeks in advance (and typical dinner time for Parisians is 9-9:30 p.m.)
- enjoy a pre-dinner drink (apéro) around 6-7 p.m. to tide you over until dinner
- wear comfortable shoes for walking (Parisians wear low-profile white sneakers)
- Paris is great for movies, especially on Wednesdays when new films release (look for VOST to watch films in English)
- tap water is safe to drink -- use refillable bottles and find public water fountains on https://fontaine.eaudeparis.fr/
- supermarkets are often open until 10 p.m. on weekdays
