This documentary accompanies operations of the fire brigade, the police and the Bundeswehr. The documentary shows the deployment of the Cuxhaven Navy. When there is danger in the North Sea, the Neuwerk rushes to the scene. She is the largest multi-purpose ship of the Federal Government and, together with three other ships on the North Sea and the Baltic, is one of the most modern fleets in the world. Like her sister ships, the Neuwerk is in service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Each shift on board lasts 12 hours.

A fast rescue boat, used especially in shallow areas, makes the Neuwerk an all-purpose weapon and its crew the angels of the North Sea, always on the spot when things get dicey. To ensure that the crew can safely handle the modern equipment in an emergency, drills are on the agenda. Our camera team accompanies the crew of the Neuwerk on their missions in the German Bight.
