First-hand memories of Peel’s cinema through the war years.
The Pavilion Cinema shared the building with a dance hall above, which meant that the Wednesday night showing was to be avoided if you didn’t want to be disturbed by the pounding of feet above!
Stories of the ‘the gurnet pound’ antics, the Pathe newsreels, and the exchange of aluminium for free tickets for the war effort are also described.
