A while ago I felt the need to protect my sewing machines from dust and light, so I decided to sew this Quilted Sewing Machine Cover and to show you how I made it.

Important note: I use the metric system and make the exact conversion from cm to inches in the hope of helping. Please adapt these measurements to your ruler.

Hope you enjoy this tutorial video! If so, please subscribe, share and give a like!

The materials and techniques I used are the ones I thought were the best for me as a self-taught creative seamstress. It doesn’t mean they are the best for you, so feel free to use your creativity and make it your own! You can adjust the measurements as you like and also add pockets or other features.

NOTE: Dimensions in inches are approximated.

My sewing machine measurements:
- Depth: 18cm / 7”.
- Width: 42cm / 16.5”.
- Height: 24cm / 9.4”.

Add 5cm / 2” to the measurements of your sewing machine.

Seam allowance:
- 1.5cm / 0.6″.

Fabric measurements:
- 4 fabric pieces for the front and the back (2 for outside fabric and 2 for lining): 47cm / 18.5” x 29cm / 11.4”;
- 4 fabric pieces for the sides (2 for outside fabric and 2 for lining): 29cm / 11.4” x 23cm / 9”);
- 2 fabric pieces for the top (1 for outside fabric and 1 for lining): 47cm / 18.5” x 23cm / 9”;
- 1 piece of fabric for the handle and 1 piece of fusible interfacing: 18cm / 7” x 10cm / 4”.

Polyester batting measurements:
- 2 for the front and back panel pieces: 45cm / 17.7” x 27cm / 10.6”;
- 2 for the side panel pieces: 27cm /10.6” x 21cm /8.3”;
