Making an exclusive ax. Drawing on an ax by electrochemical etching. Ax of 1989 release. The ax is a gift in honor of the SaddleSore 1000 standard. The route of the motorcycle trip passed through the territory of Ukraine. In honor of this trip, a hiking commemorative ax was made, which the person will use in his future travels.
Everything shown in the video is not a role model.
00:25 - Grinding the ax.
01:35 - I paint the ax with an aerosol alkyd primer (paint). The paint protects the metal from etching.
02:07 - Film (lavsan tracing paper) with a picture. The drawing was made with a simple pencil, on the matte surface of the film.
02:42 - I apply the film to the ax, pattern down. Pressing on the back of the film with a pencil, I reprint the drawing on the ax.
03:31 - With a sharp metal needle with a pen, I clean off the paint in the places where the metal should be corroded.
04:13 - I add water and salt to the brine. I stir it. The solution is dark in color because it has been used before. This solution is reusable.
04:36 - I glue all the corners of the ax. In these places, the layer of paint is the thinnest, and it must be additionally protected. I use a paper medical plaster.
05:07 - Copper plate.
05:43 - I put the current regulator at 20 amperes.
05:52 - Etching of the metal takes place in a water-salt solution for 15 minutes. Time to drink coffee. Buy a mug:   / valeriy.teslya
07:50 - I wash the ax with clean water.
08:17 - Partially peeling off the paint from the ax.
08:43 - Etching the background of the picture. Etching takes place with a 25 volt device. I do this so that the background of the picture is different.
09:24 - My ax is in the water.
09:33 - I remove paint residues from the ax. I use a solvent.
09:52 - Special liquid for cold blackening of metal. The black color will fill in all the indentations on the surface of the metal, and the pattern will look contrasting.
10:04 - I sand the metal surface with P800 sandpaper.
10:19 - Grinding the handle with P100 sandpaper.
10:29 - Special alcohol-based wood dye. I paint the handle.
10:56 - Smearing wood with impregnation. The impregnation contains linseed oil. This will protect the wood from moisture.
11:24 - I lubricate the metal with machine oil. This will protect the metal from oxidation.
