"Oktyabrskaya Cave" is the longest cave in Kazakhstan, which was opened in 1963. Its length at the time of opening was 1300-1390 meters.

When you go down into the cave, it's like you get into a world frozen in time and bound by ice. Huge stones are located inside transparent ice, stalactites and ice growths of completely different shapes hang on the walls and ceiling, a smooth smooth floor and a high ceiling create their own atmosphere - all this is an ice world that fascinates with its inviolability and purity! I went down to the cave several times, because once to make all the shots and enjoy being there is not enough. Moreover, the place was very popular in winter and I had to run quickly so as not to take a video of the queue of tourists.😃

The queue was also observed on the frozen marble "Ice Wave" - a frozen moraine lake on the Bogdanovich Glacier. A huge wall of ice with an unusual pattern similar to marble, resembling a sea wave. It is located near the entrances to the" October " cave. So by visiting this place, you can recharge your impressions for the whole year! Yet this is an indescribable beauty, unusual for our eyes.

And so... How to get there?

Let's start with the fact that the season of visits to this location is December-February. In the summer, you can also walk along the glacier. It is impossible to approach the glacier itself and the moraine lake! Since there is a great danger of falling into an ice crack.

To begin with, we need to get to Medeo, this can be done by bus No. 12 (one-way travel costs 80 tenge per person). Then buy a ticket for the cable car “Medeu-Shymkent " + "Combi 1" + "Combi 2" in both directions (I recommend buying through the mobile application rakhmet or chokolife - there are discounts + cashback 5%). The ticket price through the app is 3400 tenge per person, and if through the ticket office, then 4000 tenge-this is on weekdays. On weekends, it is more expensive - 4250/5000 tenge. The cable car opens at 9: 00 am, and the "Combi 2" closes at 16: 30. Be sure to count your time on the way back, otherwise you will have to walk to Shymkent.

After we climb to the highest point of the cable car - 3200 m. n. o. m, we need to go to the right side (along the resto-bar "Oblaka"). Literally after 300 meters, the path will go towards the Bogdanovich Glacier (turn right again). We follow along the trail. In winter and summer, it is clearly visible, since it is a popular route. The lifting time takes about 50-80 minutes. It all depends on the pace and how many photos you take along the way. In summer, you will have to climb on large stones (trekking boots are mandatory!), in winter you will have to go along a path where you can fall knee-deep in snow (if you turn aside). So in addition to good shoes, it is also desirable to have flashlights on your feet (protection from snow getting into your shoes).

After an hour of walking, we find ourselves on a small pass, which offers a view of various snow peaks and the glacier itself. You can also see the moraine lake - it is difficult to get lost there, it seems to me even impossible. Here it remains only to get to the entrance to the cave, and then visit the moraine lake. And enjoy the nature and beauty of the mountains of the Trans-Ili Alatau.

The whole hike + cable car takes about 5-6 hours. Of course, it can be faster, but this beauty will not let go so easily.
