Ants love sugar and it's difficult to keep them away from your hummingbird feeder. The ant moat built into your hummingbird feeder is usually quite small and dries up in a day of two allowing the ants to have free range of your hummingbird feeders sweet juice. If there are ants on your hummingbird feeder, the hummingbirds not approach and will stay away. With this diy ant moat the water will not dry up for 1 1/2 to 2 weeks or more! Simplest ant moat you can make yourself.
