Viewers can see Red Machhindranath's holy bath in this video.
First of all, Machhindranath's statue is taken to Lagankhel from Tabahal. Then Panjus (Priest of Red Machhindranath) do holy bath of Machhindranath with holy water, brought from different river.
After about 28 years, on the day of april 7, 2023, Rato Machhindranath (Bungadyo) has been given a holy bath with Jamra.
Continuing the tradition that has been stopped for about 28 years, this year Rato Machhindranath was bathed by holy water with Jamra brought from Taleju Temple of Lalitpur.
In the past, in the holy water, use for holy bath of machhindra nath, a Jamara of Taleju were used to kept.
Niran Jwalananda Rajopadhyay, the priest of Taleju Temple of Patan, said that this tradition was stopped since Mali stopped working in Taleju.
'This practice could not be continued after 2051/52 B.S., when Mali left the job in Taleju. This year we ourself took Jamara and the tradition continued," said priest Rajopadhyay.
This year, another priest of Taleju, Rakshan Rajopadhyay took Jamra from Taleju for the holy bath of Machhindranath.
Barley is sown on the day of Chaitra Pratipada in the Taleju of Patan Mangalbazar and the same Jamra is offered to the Taleju on the day of Chaitra Dashain.
The same Jamra offered to Taleju Bhawani is kept in the holy water of Machhindranath's holy bath.
Holy water is brought from Ganga Teertha, Bishnumati Teertha, Manohara Teertha, Gosainkunda and Sapanatirtha for Mahasnan.
