In September 1986, the Moors Valley Country Park's new 7-1/4 inch gauge miniature railway opened for the first time. 30 years later it is going from strength to strength in 2016.
To mark the occasion, a special gala weekend was put on by the Moors Valley Railway with seventeen locomotives in action throughout the day working a variety of ten passenger and freight sets.
In this video we see the locos as follows...
- Nos.3 "Talos" & 4 "Tinkerbell" working the 'Dorset Flyer' and 'Tucktonian' specials.
- No.5 "Sapper" working a Passenger set and later the Permanent-Way Train.
- No.10 "Offa" working a Passenger set.
- No.11 "Zeus" working the Y2Y and Skips.
- No.12 "Pioneer" working a Passenger set and later the Y2Y.
- No.17 "Hartfield" working a Passenger set and later double-heading with visiting loco "Tertius" on the Box Vans.
- No.18 "Thor" working the Permanent-Way Train before later taking over from "Pioneer" on passenger duties.
- No.19 "Athelstan" working a Passenger set before later working the 'Dorset Flyer'.
- "Ivor" working the 'Tucktonian' and later on the Permanent-Way Train.
- "Guinevere" working on the 'Dorset Flyer'.
- "Hestia" working the 'Tucktonian' and later the Y2Y.
- 10 "Sir "Arthur Heywood" double-heading with "Sapper" on a Passenger set before going solo later on.
- 273 "Ross" & "Captain Hook" doubling-heading a Passenger set.
