I used to mix in mono but I had no idea what I was doing. Once I truly understood what mixing in mono did it actually made my mixes sound way better. If you struggle to get real separation in your mix then mixing in mono will be your best bet at achieving that separation.

PS. Don't worry if it's not entirely clear right off the hop. It still took me a while to get this right.
