I designed the upper cabinets to run along the whole length of my sprinter van in order to get as much storage as I could. I made 5 cabinets using 12mm and 6mm plywood. First I made a frame, mounted it on the ceiling and fitted the bottom part of the cabinets. I made a cardboard template for the side walls to match exact curvature of the van wall and cut out the 12mm plywood board to its shape. Next I put the whole cabinet together using pocket holes and mounted it on the wall and ceiling of the van (I attached it to the wooden under construction I made before I put in the walls, so the upper cabinets are fixed well). I tried putting my whole weight on one and it held it! After the cabinets were installed, I made the doors with half circle design and VOILA! That's my cabinets!

I am Sandra. In January 2022 I purchased a 2018 Sprinter Van, Sherpa. I am using my stubbornness and drive to show individuals that they, too, can convert a camper van by themselves and on a budget, with a lot of learning, rolling up the sleeves, and getting to work. With this van build I want to create an adventure vehicle that's going to store all my surfboards, mountain bikes and skis and have some space for my friends to tag along as well in order to pursue the waves, fresh snow and good bike trails.

My want to inspire individuals to pursue their passion and to not be afraid to live a life differently.
