Jostedalsbreen National Park is roughly a 4 hour drive north from Bergen, Norway. This Norwegian National Park contains not only majestic fjords but also one of Europes largest ice fields. It was the gigantic ice field that caught my eye as I scanned google earth in search of somewhere to go. The tough part of visiting Jostedalsbreen isn’t just the hassle of getting there, it’s picking what to do once you arrive. There are tons of options. Hiking, climbing, kayaking, river rafting, trail running, via ferratas, and glacier walks. I had Tyson with me so that narrowed my options. We decided to begin our Norwegian adventure with a walk on one of Jostedalsbreen’s most scenic glaciers, Austerdalsbreen. Tyson had never explored a glacier on foot. And I could tell by his subdued demeanor that he had some reservations.
